The Day Parents Say No To Child Abuse!

So parents you know what to do lah!

Please sue us. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze because, we have all our lawyers ready to blow this matter up! Don’t disappoint us! At least threaten us with a legal letter – wada-u-say!

For the sake of kiddies – I’ve take you on any day lah! How’s that? Still grass root ah!

Fact remains, we do not condone child abuse of any kind/ Kids are defenseless, they’re cute and they look to care givers to mould and shape their characters in intelligent and imaginative ways, not by resorting to the most primitive of tools – by promoting fear as a means of soliciting compliance.

This is especially cogent in the case of Singapore; where millions of mummies have to regularly juggle work and family as we all try to make the best of the happy hamster in the wheel life ; with the onset of the recession, job cuts and rising cost are already plying it thick and furious; these brave mums have enough on their plate; when they’re in their cubicles at work turning the wheel of life; trying to meet impossible dead lines; to deliver on the unrealistic performance expectations of their psycho bosses etc.

The last thing, they need to deal with is to wonder why dumb articles like this are even given the light of day. Or second guess whether their children are in safe hands? At the end of the day, that’s what it boils down too. Peace of mind.That’s why this is so important.

You see, I don’t believe it’s possible for people to dedicated themselves purposefully; if they have fear in their hearts; that’s why; I DON’T THINK, THIS IS A GOOD ARTICLE! BECAUSE WHAT IT DOES IS MAKE LIGHT OF AN ISSUE THAT REALLY HITS THE HOT BUTTONS OF EVERY PARENT.

I WOULDN’T HAVE WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE, IF I DID NOT GET SO MANY IRRATE PARENTS WRITING AND COMPLAINING TO ME.

I AM NOT SAYING THIS REPORTER DOESN’T HAVE A RIGHT TO AIR HER VIEWS; SURE, IF YOU CANNOT TAHAN, DO IT IN THE PRIVACY OF YOUR HOME WITH MAYBE LIKE MINDED FRIENDS; BUT WHEN THIS MATTER IS GIVEN AN AIRING IN A ST BLOG – THEN WHAT TYPE OF MESSAGE ARE YOU BROADCASTING TO CHILD CARE SPECIALIST, PARENTS AND THOSE WHO MAY REGULARLY DEAL WITH KIDDIES?

This is something that I want all of you to seriously THINK about.

As many of you know; 8/10 regular brotherhood readers have kids; and there is really no way around this; we just need to draw a very clear line in the sand and develop zero tolerance to such nonsense.

In the past, I have made my stance super clear on certain controversial issues concerning kids; for example; I have nothing against gays in the teaching profession; but I draw the line where the gay lifestyle is actively promoted to kiddies as if it’s the most natural and acceptable thing in this planet; you know that’s fine; if the audience are consenting adults who have the maturity to make an informed decision; but where it relates to kiddies; I don’t believe they have that power of discernment. For one all their thumbdrives are at zero so they ALL deserve a right of passage into adulthood without having to deal with these issues; they don’t need to be confused by gay teachers.

I am not saying gays don’t have a place in our society; only there has to be a right place and a right setting for everything; and in this case; there is clearly a mismatch. And we have to super clear about it. That’s one thing about the brotherhood press, we are very clear about certain core values – for example, I don’t agree that Hong Lim Park should be a place to promote gay causes. 

And why is this important? Because there are some people out there who actually believe that you can get something for nothing.  

Nothing can be further from the truth; these positions simply need to be stated very clearly!

If you don’t have the balls to state the case; then don’t be a leader!

In this regard we are all leaders in one sense or another.

Teachers, be it those with a big “T” or small “t.” Are probably one of the most important people in the formative years of a kid; and if we get this part wrong; then it’s no good; it just doesn’t come around.

The danger is we don’t say “No!” and take a firm position; then somewhere, at some point, something will give, some dummy care child teacher is going think, it’s perfectly OK to abuse children with the rotan, chili padi or some other instrument of fear; ONLY this time; it MAY very well be your kid! – that to me is just unacceptable!

One reason why I am posting this is because an irrate parent has written directly to me to inform me that such an offensive article has even made it to the Strait Times!

I don’t really care what the justification is; whatever it is, there is no excuse to take a rod or belt to a kid; the idea of sparing the rod and spoiling the child is passé, it doesn’t work and if you’re under any misapprehension, that it does, it just demonstrates how dumb you really are; if you believe scarring a child mentally would in any way make him or her a better person; that’s just incredibly dumb and travesty of how ordinary folk these days make sense of stuff.

We don’t condone violence or abuse of any kind on kiddies, we condemn it outright!

Spread this in the strangelands. Remember, I did not start this, but as I said parents, you know what to do lah!
