You know what? I learn a lot from the people I mix with – I am a firm believer in networking; there are even two CEO’s in my cycling team; a couple of self made millionaires, even a neurosurgeon and loads of lawyers, but if I had to point to one group of people who has really changed my perspective in life in these past few years. It has to be the police.
Some of my best mates happen to be in the force. We do a lot of things together; kendo, cycling, climbing, but the one thing, we do best is talk and talk and talk and talk – and through the years; I have learnt a lot from the my police buddies – I am not joking when I say this, but if I had to point to one main reason why I have been able to avoid a serious fall; and it doesn’t really matter whether its in personal relationships (like how long can you smile at a pretty girl on the train without coming across like a crazed stalker) or something really important like deciding to buy a big ticket item to investments – it’s because through the years; I have applied police interviewing and interrogation techniques to almost every single thing in my life.
When I square off the accounts - police know how – has saved my chops more than once – I learn to spot liars a mile off away – avoid, gold diggers – I even know when someone is holding out on me - and I never step into a place that I cannot walk out of - never etc.
Now if you think police interview and interrogation techniques have absolutely nothing to do with your life – then you’re dead wrong – it could just as well be successfully used to make sure, you don’t sign up for a bad investment plan, or if you happen to be a manager; it may well save you from making a $58 billion fuck up – through the years, I found out that by just using the simple wisdom of the mata-mata, we can all get ahead in life – and if you want to know more about it, just check out this clip – trust me after this, you’ve see our friendly boys in blue in a completely new light –
