Why settle for real when you can have the fake? The Art of choosing the red or blue pill

February 27, 2010

Is there really a need to build up credible and reliable websites – well it depends; the first question one needs to consider is what exactly constitutes “credibility” and “reliable” in the context of the internet parlance? Well it’s certainly not what’s regularly churned out by the apparatus of mass assimilation i.e the Strait Times, Stomp etc – believe it or not; most netizens aspire towards authenticity; that’s why they go online and what that means is a reverso of logic – to be credible and reliable; anyone who aspires to control the collective perception of the internet needs to take on the stripes of sites like Temasek Review who were previously known as Wayang Party and I suspect very soon to be the de facto version of the Strait Times online – now you know why they do the things they do  – all this doesn’t fool me for one second – the goal can be summarized as a simple one, two and three jig.

First create the oppositional feel – the anti-government backdrop is crucial here – you could even say, it’s the necessary lie; if you want to get ahead in blogoland – hey, we all know break dancing and rapping didn’t get those guys anywhere right? Duh!!!! – get the texture or feel wrong and most netizens will just make teeth sucking sounds and mumble to themselves – this is just another government site pumping out propaganda, see you latter alligator! – to slake the demand for online authenticity; it’s not so different from covert marketing – PSP for example regularly markets their wares by hiring fake bloggers to write rave reviews about their crummy products; it’s not so different from those hawker outlets where you can always be counted to see a photo of some mediacorpse actor standing beside the owner – the whole idea is to create la atmosphere – the right ambience not only imparts credibility, but it also palliates most of our deepest fears by supplying us with the reassurance of the familiar; the idea takes it’s cue from stone washed ripped jeans and tiny bubbles in glass goblets one regularly comes across in some mega furniture store; the idea just manages to impart that happy feel that this isn’t just any vessel; it was once lovingly handmade by hard working Swedes that are happily turning the wheel of life – what they don’t tell you of course is it probably came from the hottest corner of some sweat shop in Pakistan where poor 12 year old Abdul was chained to a glass making machine as he pumped his lungs out – my point is setting the right ambience is everything when it comes to selling yourself as the kosher oppositional blog – you can never be too anti- government – that simply just buys you loads of street credibility online.

The Second step is to mash fact with fiction – stands to reason once you have established the first condition – you can’t just belt out oppositional material 24/7; that would defeat the whole goal of pulling the wool over the collective consciousness of the internet – so what’s required is a delicate balance between fact and fiction; lunatic fringe and mainstream – and how is this blurring accomplished – simple from time to time publish a mainstream article that one would find in the MSM (which none of us would even read), better still frame it against loads of oppositional reads and in that way the mind just takes it all in and surrenders to the path of least resistance –since the first condition has already been establish; it’s all too easy to slip in or take out something without you ever realizing it; it’s subtle and what’s at work is nothing less than a form of psychological warfare. Now you know why when you go down to a fake site that’s masquerading as the sheep in a wolfs jumpsuit; you will probably find equal measures of oppositional reads alongside what is regularly published in the MSM – but notice how they are all jumble up together; there’s no line, pattern or symmetry even – I say look harder and longer – the whole idea as is to a effect a perceptive shift that’s so subtle it’s hardly noticeable and this time the strategy takes the lead from odorless and invisible shit – you can be neck deep in it and still believe you’re above it all – the goal here is to disorientate, confuse and conquer!

Alas the third jig that completes step one and two is give everyone the impression – you’re so good at exposing the “truth,” that some malevolent force out there sees your site as such a threat; that they are even prepared to raid your servers – nevermind the minor details that commercial servers these days come with pretty decent firewalls that can even annul the best attempts to break in, let alone disable their security systems; never mind even that to launch even launch a sustained DDos attack it requires nothing short of planning, organizational skill and a network that even the Chinese government despite all stadium’s of cyber troopers botched it up; when the electronic signature was traced back all to a school that is incidentally owned and operated by the People’s liberation army ( what a coincidence!) –nevermind, despite the brotherhood and the entire network of  our allies spanning nearly 52 countries; we couldn’t even find so much as an ant hill of an electronic signature or wake in every single one of the 37 DDos attacks TR claimed to have suffered – I am sure in the Opium surreal world of internet domination; these are all just minor kinks in the greater scheme of things – and why is there a need to confect a bogeyman you say?

well the logic goes like this – if they can convince you that someone somewhere wants to close them down; that implies: what they have to tell you MUST be worth reading on a die die must read basis; couple that foggy idea with illicit thrill of visiting an oppositional blog and what you get is not only a very powerful astringent; but nothing short of alchemy; the ability to transmute the fake into the exceptionally real – like whale meat, prohibition and porn – it’s a play on the whole idea forbidden fruit and the sweetness they all promise that can even match even the best Byzantine Silk and still manage to read better than Aesop’s strange fairytales; so why settle for the supermarket variety when you can get it from a blog that just feels so right that it fits you like a glove; along with pressing all your hot buttons that simply imparts that warm happy perfidious faced belief – life is beautiful; you’ve found that mythical oyster; that comfort zone – but look again; there’s a serpent in paradise and just in case you didn’t know living in the fake, no matter how delightful it may be;  just happens to be a silent killer; not only do you die in small increments; but it’s so aesthetically rapturous you may even wonder to yourself why do I even need the real, when the fake is this good!

Like I’ve always said, do what you like…it’s your choice  – but one thing is certain; just as you are what you eat or don’t eat; the chances are you’re probably end up being what you read and don’t choose too read – the choice is yours entirely…

And as usual; they’re never ever going to confront me to supply the proof; their handlers have already given them strict instructions – this Darkness character is sticky, its best to ignore him (besides, I have a platinum get out of jail card, the evidence, that I’ve stored away in at least 9 different sites all round the world, so you make one move and I will sing like a canary – checkmate!) – and everytime, they do something, we pull out something from SG, so they know now the game comes with the added edge of cost, trade off’s, pay out’s and penalties – and those things we pull out cannot be easily replaced –but you all know what: I have nothing against fake or real sites; I care even less what their hidden agenda is or for that matter what makes up their motivation – you go and connect the dots – only in an age of endless, hype and spin – where authenticity seems to have seeped away – I think, I still have every right to my own opinion along with even expressing it and most importantly the right to choose what I read and not too – after all, I only have one life and I can’t imagine anything worse than living in a lie……can you?

I’ve catch you on the flip side.

“Did I tell you Gemami that during the height of the cold war; the KGB used to build fake western outpost along their borders. Thousands of soviets seeking freedom to the West would cut through barbed wire thinking they were border fences only to believe they had successfully found their way to the West; the soviets called this Stalin Scetendez – Stalins great lie, here the lie was seamlessly crafted; no detail was spared; whole communities were recreated just like the West complete with Wrigley’s chew gum, Miller’s lite beer, coney island hamburgers, anti communist radio messages; right down to slot machines that belted out the latest hits by Elvis Presley. For all intends and purposes these outpost looked exactly like Western outpost at the edge of the Soviet Empire; though in reality; they were manned by KGB agents attired in American uniforms who spoke perfect English.

Unfortunately today history does not record what happened to those escapees – you may be right Gemami. As you put it so beautifully – “We can’t be too sure where politics is concerned, can we?”

N.B MESSAGE BY MISSY DOTTY:  DO BOOKMARK THIS SITE, IF SOME OF YOU CLAIM, YOU ARE MISSING OUT, BOOKMARK IT, THAT WAY WHEN WE DECIDE TO TAKE OFF SOMEWHERE ELSE, AT LEAST YOU CAN FOLLOW US ON THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD TO CONT READING SOME OF OUR STUFF . BOOKMARK, IT AS WHEN THEY TAKE OFF, AS THEY DO, AT LEAST, YOU WILL HAVE A LINK, DO IT NOW!– ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO BOOKMARK THIS SITE IS THIS HAS HAPPENED  RECENTLY – http://singaporedaily.net/2010/01/11/daily-sg-11-jan-2010/#comment-7611 , THE BP HAS BARRED ALL FUTURE ESSAYS TO BE POSTED BY THE SINGAPORE DAILY. I DID ASK BABY DARKNESS ABOUT THIS AND THIS IS WHAT HE HAD TO SAY, ” There are two ways to read, one is you let someone spoon feed you like a baby. The second is you choose what and how you want to eat.  Remember, if your body is a temple. Your mind has to be the altar piece; it’s the linchpin that makes possible the grand idea of La Convivencia with you and your community, spirit, mind and perhaps 7 million other things- without this one thing, the power to choose, you are simply a cactus on a window sill!

So understand this little rich girl, there is reading and there is reading, there is a world of difference, if you dont even bother to argue with the belief, you are what you eat. Then you would have absolutely no problem understanding – why, you are most definitely without a shadow of doubt what you read and dont read.

You can certainly categorize what I write, but you have no right to judge ……that was what Singaporedaily did – a broad line has to be drawn, otherwise, dont be surprise, if someone decides its card blanche to give you and me the mushroom treatment, “feed you shit and keep you in the dark.” So this has nothing to do with Anime 3 and her rubberband brigade. I value her readership and support, but this is a bigger sphere we are dealing with here – so this is where I will draw the line…it will hurt…like that other fake site, Temasek review that kept faking doss attacks; but how could they let the real wolf out without first planting the idea in peoples mind, “if it can happen to me, it will also happen to you,” Think about it – they cried wolf – we helped, but this time, I am not going to stick my neck out for no one…its everyman for himself….I dont even care, if the whole house catches fire…call it tough love, but if you aren’t a hard man, then you shouldn’t be in the ring and that’s the only way to deal with people who cry wolf, its all here, the explanation

http://singaporedaily.net/2010/01/12/daily-sg-12-jan-2010/#comment-7618 – dont worry dotty, the readers will eventually pick up the scent…they always do, you just wait and see, dont ever sweat the small stuff, life is too short – Darkness 2010……”Missy Dotty
