Missing Rifles

In 1999, in an attempt to arrest the escalating atrocities and ethnic cleansing against Albanian civilians by Serbian forces, NATO launched a 78-day aerial bombing campaign against Yugoslavia without UN authorization. Somewhere in maelstorm 300 L42A1 Lee Enfield Sniper Rifles chambered in NATO 7.62 X 51mm were transported to Kosovo. The convoy never made it….a GCHQ communication intercept was reported in the Evening Standard stating friendly fire may have been responsible for the dissappearance of the lorries….but the authenticity of this reportage was never ever confirmed as no records exist concerning such coded intercepts by GCHQ…..as for the rifles, they all disappeared without a trace…..till today the ministry of defence in Whitehall continues to deny the existence of these rifles.
