The Paradox of being over complicated

Tom Kelly was the designer of the lunar module that landed the first human on the moon. He coined the term, the Paradox of being over complicated. In a nutshell the theory went something like this, the more complex a system the more can and will go wrong only to fail catastrophically. The solution to resolve this paradox was to settle on a sweet spot between complex with slipping into the territory of being over complicated. Modern cars today can no longer perform in the field. As a consequence more and more field workers have no other choice but to keep their four wheel bone shakers on the road. This is not always cost effective, nor is practical simply because there is only so much one can do to prolong the lifespan of a car……maybe the solution to the perpetual over complication of cars is for auto manufacturers to go back basics.

Maybe we need to go back to the past to get to the future by adopting the logic of driving old cars.
